Life in Crazy Town!

As many of you know, we are a little crazy around here.  Matt has always tried to temper my crazy liked my crazy, but now I have a little crazy side kick!  Here are some of the fun and silly things we have been up to for the past month.

Our Future Hair Dresser:   What would this girl do with a mommy with short hair?  Her favorite thing is to spray my hair down with water and then comb it just a little, lots of water, a little combing, lots of water, a little combing.  She really does a great job!

Fireplace:  It's in!  The crazy part of this was that we ordered the brick, but the guy who was actually supposed to order it from the supplier was fired before ordering it and no one realized it.  It was in a few days before Christmas and we LOVE it!

Christmas morning opening stockings:
This is what Lucy looks like first thing in the morning when she is given a sock full of goodies!  Look at her HAIR!!!

Speaking of hair:  She got a TON of bows and clips in her stocking.  She wanted to wear all o them.  She also is on a HUGE chap stick binge right now.  She got some in her stocking too!

An Angel!  We saw this run by us and started dying of laughter!  What could it be?  She said "I'm an ANGEL!!!!"  Apparently my lace waste, cherry print undies worn on her head made her feel angelic!  I guess you just have to picture wings attached???

The potty chair... as a dinner chair?  At this point you may be thinking:  "what is going on over there???"  Well, Lucy wanted to eat a waffle in the living room on a Saturday morning, and since I wanted to eat breakfast there too, she rigged up this little set up.  I call it creative!  (Now if only she would use the potty chair as a potty chair!)

An Endangered Species:  the blue headed butterfly
Aunt Rachel gave Lucy butterfly wings that hung from the ceiling.  With a little revamping, we made them wearable.  Those are my old blue tights!  I cut the legs off to make a harness thing and she decided to use the waist part for a headdress.  Gotta love her creativity!

Matt caught the critter in the dog cage too!  What a catch!

Bowl Helmet  Lucy was told to put a bowl away, and instead got out all of the bowls in the drawer.  This one became a hat.  She was putting it over her eyes and walking around like she was invisible.  I love her smile on this picture!  No eyes!

It's genetic:  Where does she get this craziness?  From her mother!!!  These cupcakes were really tasty!  Lucy and I had a litter dinner party with a place set for Grandma who is far away.  YUMMY!

That is what we have been up to!  General silliness and a lot of laughing!

Remodel Progress

Here are some new pictures.  This first one is what I walked in to on Monday aternoon.  I almost immediately started crying because these are NOT the drawer fronts that I wanted.  GRRR!!!  I called my mom bawling, regrouped and then called the cabinet woman.  We should be getting new drawer fronts soon.

Here is our island base.  I love it!  The cupboard doors on the perimeter look awesome too... just not the drawers.
Here is the island as of Friday!  The granite is in and the sink and faucet.  I LOVE it!!!

This shows the island granit, the backsplash tile which we will purchase on Monday and the paint color which will go on the walls Monday/Tuesday.  (The second lightest brown is the paint)
Here is one wall as of now.  I LOVE the doors!  We pretty much picked out hardware, but will make a final decision next week.  My prep sink is HUGE!!!  I love it!
This is the wall with the stove and fridge.  Aren't these doors sweet!?  I love them!
Here is our fireplace wall.  They will hopefully brick it in and install cabinets here this week.  It's going to be SWEET!
They are making visible progress now and it looks sweet!  I'm so excited.  I will post more next week when things are more complete.  :)

Our "Broken" House

This is what our kitchen looked like on Monday night.

 And our living room...

That night Lucy stayed overnight at my parents.  When my mom asked her what was going on at our house, she said in a forlorn tone, "It's bwoken."

On the way home from Grammy's yesterday, Lucy kept talking about our "bwoken house."  I don't think she wanted to go back there.

As of last night, they made some progress in "fixing" it!  We now have a fireplace and some can lights in.  :)  Hopefully tonight they will get drywall up because it is FREEZING in parts of the house!  Thankfully we have this going now and not when it's snowing.

A Few Questions

I could use some input on a few items.

1.  I rarely take time to clean the house because I hate it and because working full time and having a kid makes cleaning difficult.  So...

Does anyone know of someone in the Holland area who could clean my house?  Or a good service?

Does anyone have someone clean their house?  Do they come while you are gone?  Is it worth it?

2.  I love bread and baked goods but hate the time it takes to make something.  So...

Does anyone have a good recipe for dough that I can make ahead and bake later?  Or make a big batch and bake a smaller portion when I want to?

3.  We are finalizing a kitchen remodel, so...

Does anyone have anything in their kitchen that they LOVE?

Does anyone have anything in their kitchen that they really wish they had?

I would love to hear from you!  Thanks in advance!
